About Chef Milton Gourmet Salts
I have a BFA in Advertising Design and was an art director for the Hunt family in Dallas for twelve years. Following that I was in sales for a family-owned printing business for twenty-one years. During that time, I went to culinary school and then decided to follow my culinary passion. After completing the program, I started my second career as a personal chef. Wanting a unique dining starter while people were having cocktails, I created Chili-Honey Roasted Nuts. I started to give them to friends and customers as a holiday gift. Everyone loved them. Requests and orders began pouring in and my nut business was born. Wanting to branch out, I began producing a gourmet sea salt line that grew into twenty one available flavors. Our biggest sellers seem to be the Smoked Atlantic Sea Salt and Pepper Melange (my original flavor) the Atlantic Sea Salt with Garlic Butter and Lime and Cilantro. The sea salt is from the coast of Brazil. My salts do not contain additives, preservatives, MSG, or sugar. I smoke, grind, and mix all of my salts and spices. All of the products I sell are handmade by me, in Texas, from start to finish. I sell online, through some Dallas stores, and at farmers’ markets. Having your own food business is harder than I first thought. A lot of people don’t realize that there are so many rules and regulations to know and follow. You definitely have to have a commercial kitchen. But, I say, if you are passionate about it, it’s worth it.
